Would you recommend Dahua over Hikvision for home use with 6 cameras.

Thank for this video, it was very helpful. Although, I have an issue, when I go to "live" feed and click on a camera, I can see the image, but there is no sound. My camera has a built-in mic, it records the sound if I view it from the "search" function, but when I view "live" feed I can not find a way to enable the sound. Do you have experience with this issue? Your help is much appreciated!

Hello, the cameras should be Dahua so they are recognized automatically when connecting in the Poe Ports of the NVR? I have Hillock cameras and I haven't find a way that they get connected and work in the PoE ports of the NVR, they only work if connected to an external PoE switch. Thank you

I have a Dahua nvr5216 and Dahua anpr camera. I have many problems with the nvr. 1 the face database tab where you create new databases should have Type and then the option "local" and "remote" from the drop down. Mine only says "remote" How to get "local" 2 when you search for faces, on the face info box it should have a "add face to database" button, mine is missing. 3 on the main screen on the right side you see the captured car and plate, and that panel should continuously update as cars are captured, mine stops after about 30minutes, and other problems. I am expert at setting up cameras and nvr, but this one has stumped me, any ideas, no help from the seller.

How can i set up nvr only in monitor without net?

Since you have assigned a static ip address on the NVR from your local router and therefore the camera are on the POE switch of the POE.
can you port forward between the local network and POE segment so as to access the web page of the cameras?

Unless I have a factory, I would never buy a 16 channel. 8 channels is heaps of videos.

I have 8 channel and... don't get too excited yet. It's a rubbish system from the fact that cameras aren't really 30fps and aren't even smooth flowing and pleasant to look at.

If you compared the IP cameras with a personal camera such as Sony 4K Handicam (a popular personal video camera), you will know the difference. The personal video camera such as the Handycam, at 30fps and 4K has a smooth transition and flow of frames without any glitch, freeze, smears, vanishing or zapping video images from the screen, just to know mention a few. Whereas, these IP cameras have it all, faults and all. I don't mean faults as in broken down parts, but faults as the pathetic quality of the video transition and the low frame ratio. If you increase the frame ration the video is then recorded in a stutter, noticeable back and forth jerk which make the image of, say a car, impossible to follow so that you can recognize it. The same with people.

Hikvision system are similar. Their video jerk, stutter, smear, freezes on screen and other has ghosting. And when that is what gets recorded on these NVRs for the money that you paid, you might just as well throw the recorded video or the NVRs away because that is not 4K, not when it is ghosting, smearing, freezing and so on.

Hikvision was my first system and has had faults more than Dahua I have experienced for past 6 months now.

The video quality is probably 1080p and no more. If possible you have to buy a 4K monitor and try your best.

But, since I've had problems with both of these NVRs and losing 5 grand, I don't think I'd want to spend more money on a 32" 4K monitor.

Since a lot of people buy these systems without having any idea on their performances and or quality, including other stuff that I had discovered each day, the only time people will find out how difficult they are to keep them tracking properly and not lose the settings is, when they buy one.

Hikvision, when it was first set with four 4K IP camera, it was set fine to do recording jobs. Within less than a week, this smearing and floating of images appeared on the top part of the screen. Sometimes it corrected itself, at other time it just cause vehicles and people smear or streak across the screen. It has been like this for the last 6 months. And, don't forget that, the support with Hikvision sucks, sucks bit.

The same with Dahua. Since I've had it in just over two months, this garbage keeps playing up. Every unexpected crap that this Dahua NVR and its camera (4) has done has been documented and recorded on video. For now, you don't need to believe me on bit. Wait till you have one and operate it, or wait till I complete a video in relation of the problems they have, or develop unexpectedly and then you will say, I was right. Good luck, mate.
