"All officers from the government, from the highest to the lowest are creatures of the law and bound to obey it." NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.

Funny how no other presidents in US history had the need to argue presidential immunity.

Does anyone else get a disturbing feel about our country's legal system when such obvious concerns such as anybody being above the law is questioned and we get a sigh of relief when a decision is made that no one is above the law. And then we need to wait for further possible ruling in the matter as well as other nonsensical issues.

A huge decision for our Country and for all Citizens of the United States. It also reaffirms that the President is an Officer of the State. This is a resounding victory for our Democracy.

It's a given, we have presidents, not kings. The president is our employee, we're not his subjects.

If Trump was correct then Biden could have him taken out without consequences

What a ridiculous concept. SCOTUS shouldn't even be looking at this. Absolute immunity. What utter nonsense.

No one is immune, and no one is above the law. That's the way it should be.

The ruling also describes Trump as an “officer” on a number of occasions - undercutting his claim that the president isn’t subject to the 14th amendment.

The fact that a case like this even has to go to the SC shows you how far this country has gone to the dark side. There is a large group of people who want to live under authoritarian rule. The SC should not take this case as it is absurd.

Why is he so concerned about being able to break laws if he is innocent? Seems like a really strange arguement for someone who things they are innocent

What's unbelievable is that "presidents are not above the law" is breaking news.

I would have assumed that the precedent for all of this was set years ago when Ford pardoned Nixon. If a president was above the law, then Nixon would not need to be pardon.

How then after this ruling, will the Supreme Court dodge the conclusion that this "officer" now charged with insurrection, should not be wholly disqualified so that we can all get on with our day?

It's amazing any court even entertained the idea at all. Why would the person in charge of the Executive branch in charge of enforcing the LAWS OF THE LAND, be EXEMPT from the law?

The only way this is better news is if the Supreme Court refuses to hear the case!

Why would an innocent man need immunity? Just asking questions

He's already asked the extreme court to *not* take the case, when Smith went to them. There's no reason for them to take it now.
