The time to negotiate spending is during the budgeting process and not when the bill comes due. It is absurd to threaten the creditworthiness of our nation over a BS political stunt. Do your jobs, pay our bills and then deal with the budget if you actually care about spending!

I have to say that felt a little puff. Ryan asked a question (roll back tax cuts, etc.) that JD completely word salad'd (to use a phrase) and did not answer in any way. You simply went on to another question. A little pushback to get a real answer would have been nice.

I'm very disappointed that breaking points did not bring up the difference between the budgeting process and the debt ceiling. The expenses incurred were already agreed to. You don't get the second guess that 5 minutes later blackmailing the other side.

No need for railway safety acts, if you make the corporation pay for the true cost of their disasters, then they will make sure things are safe. If you demand safety but don't enforce stiff penalties to bankrupt companies like this, who intentionally chose to burn the chemicals to clear the railway faster, then it's going to keep happening.
