I made a tinder profile once but then I got really stressed, was sweating a lot and had to delete it. It was fun at first because you’re just swiping and having a grand old time but then a couple hours later you start getting messages and it’s like “oh no! These are real people! i just wanna say that having switched from men to women on dating apps, it made me appreciate just how damn hard it is to be the first one to message and how much we girls take it for granted and kind of... well, expect the guy to hook them and not put in the effort to do it first. Not having a go or anything, just an observation, because I realised I was having to be the one to message first in a lot of cases. Don't be too harsh on the ones that don't come up with a flawless, witty message to hook you in on the first try and start with something like 'hey'. It's hard! And I think its kind of old-fashioned that the expectations are swayed that way. like, equal effort from both parties and all.

Also incase anyone didnt know, when the guy clicks the flirt button or interested (I havent been on in over a year so I can't remember which one it is) it automatically sends the female/male "hey". So 90% didkt actually write it out they clicked the button next to favorite.

When I was single, I had a profile on match.com. I specifically said in my profile I wasn't interested in dating a man who rides a motorcycle, because my first husband died in a motorcycle accident and it was just something I couldn't deal with. I got a message from a guy who CLEARLY had only looked at my pictures, because his profile picture was him straddling his Harley. :-(

I'm a lesbian so for the dating apps that I use I have it switched to girls and I will only occasionally receive messages, most of them being pretty innocent/nice or asking me about something on my profile. One time I switched it to guys just to see what would happen and I was instantly bombarded with heaps of weird, cringey, creepy, gross and vague messages. I'd get dozens of messages from guys within a day, but only a dozen or so from women over the course of a couple weeks. Some, not all, men are on a completely different level to the rest of humans.

Hang in there, girl. I was married to a wonderful man in my 20s (totally lucked out at 21).... but after going through a divorce after 10 years, I re-entered the dating world at 32. it has been a joke of epic proportions. Men don't change just because they get older. You see/read/experience the same sad situation with men in their 30s and 40s. I have been a mommy to many "men" I've dated. I have been emotional and psychological counselor to "men". I have even been "daddy" to men who lacked even a modicum of life skills, the likes of which are usually taught by dads....you know, how to properly hang a set of shelves...in studs, so they don't get yanked free of the dry wall. I just turned 40 and am loving single life. Still enjoy dating on occasion, but it takes someone special to get my attention these days. Best of luck!
