At least Hindus didn't fly into the Twin Towers. At least Hindu's didn't massacre at the Kenyan Mall either.

For those who don't know the story:
There was a demon named Mushikasura who did tapasya(meditation) for years to pray for Brahma(the creator) & asked for a boon that only an ayonija(not born from the womb), dwija(born twice), dvi roopa(2 form) would be able to kill him. Brahma granted him the boon he wished for. Soon after getting the boon from Brahma, the demon Mushikasura started oppressing the people for his selfish motive of conquering the 3 realms.

Now Shiva & Vishnu has to kill the demon as per the boon received by him, hence Vishnu, Shiva & Paravati played a leela natak (the leela concept in hinduism) which describes the Ganesha story.

According to the boon Mushikasura received, his slayer should be an ayonija, meaning his slayer should not be born from the womb. To fulfill this requirement, Parvati Devi took turmeric paste (for bathing) from her body and made a statue of a boy, breathing life into him. Parvati asked that boy to guard the door and not let anyone in until she finished her bath. This guy was given the name Vinayaka, which means “remover of obstacles”.

The second requirement is that the killer of Mushikasura must be a Dwija, which means to be born twice, that is, reborn in the same physical body. To fulfill this requirement, after Shiva came out of his meditation, he wished to meet Parvati, but found himself stopped by a strange boy. Shiva tried to reason with the boy, saying that he was Parvati's husband, but the boy did not listen and was determined to keep Shiva at bay. The boy's behavior surprised Shiva. Sensing that this was no ordinary boy, the usually even-tempered Shiva decided that he should fight the boy and in his divine fury cut off his head with his trishul killing him instantly. Now this boy should be reborn from the same body.

When Parvati heard about this, she was so enraged that she decided to destroy all creation. At his call, several fierce, multi-armed forms, the yoginis, emerged from his body and threatened annihilation. Lord Brahma, being the creator, naturally had his concerns and begged him to reconsider his drastic plan. She agreed to two conditions: first, that the boy be brought back to life, and second, that he be worshiped forever before all the other gods in prayer.

Shiva, having cooled down at this point, agreed to Parvati's conditions. He sent his followers with orders to bring back the head of the first creature which lay with its head facing north(and not facing her mother). They soon returned with the head of a strong and powerful elephant named Gajasura, which Lord Brahma placed atop the boy's body. Breathing new life into him, he was declared Gajanana and offered him the status of first among the praying gods, as well as the title of head of all ganas (classes of beings), Ganapati. The boy took rebirth of the same body and thus became a Dwija.

This boy is also a dvi roopa, that is to say two forms (half of the human body and the other half is an elephant's head). Ganesha fulfilled all the demands of Mushikasura and finally Ganesha killed Mushikasura and saved the three realms from him.

Conclusions: god doesn't need anything, but just doing these leela for us.

There are no 'followers' in hinduism, there are only 'seekers'

Why are you Muslims so intolerant of others?..Honestly, Hindus seem way more level-headed and rational. They don't go around acting like fanatics and hating on others.

It's just sad how you have to diss one's religion to endorse yours, I mean just practice your religion and let other do the same.

What i learned from my hindu friend as an atheist: The symbolism behind ganesh and how he came to being is amazing. The meaning behind his "elephant head" on a human body, I asked my hindu friend to explain: he said ganesh is embodiment of discretion of ego and filth ( head cut) and replaced with intellect and mind bigger than human capacity after encountering god. I'm an aetheist, but this makes so much sense. When u meet God, your idea of ego and self dissolves, and a vast understanding bigger than human nature is predispositioned.
Amazing.

Ps; qny hindu reading this, recommend ne some good books. Your philosophy are deep.
