That’s how I organize my groups/busses. Not by instruments but by frequency ranges.

I like to see it as a cube, you can move things up and down by cutting lows or highs and you can also bring things closer with compression and move them back with reverb among others things, as soon as I started to figure my mixes like this they improved a lot

Gain staging and panning combined with mono low end and separated instruments for space and clarity will instantly make your mixes better and easier on the ear!! Good luck

It's also important to point out that most tracks shouldn't be *forced* to *only* occupy that one frequency range by doing extreme highpassing and lowpassing. If you do this to anything really important in your mix, It can disappear on certain speaker systems. I learned this recently.

For instance, If you have a guitar that mainly exists in the low mids, so you completely low pass the high mids, then chances are that guitar is going to dissappear on laptop speakers that don't have much representation below 400 hz.

It's best to think about how things occupy different frequency ranges when creating the arrangement. So all you have to do in the mix is balance your faders and then subtly emphasize or de-emphasize frequencies with your EQ.

Please make a video going into more detail I just had to do this with a mix. I would love that.

Another astute lesson! Those competing freqs, sucking up the speaker's energy!
With the L3 Etc seems like every inch of sound is maxed out !

Critical band theory. Along with mono compatibility, it's less about music streaming platforms but is basic engineering practice: preventing masking in both the frequency and time domains (arrangement).
Remember: perhaps not every recorded track in a mix session needs to make it into the final mix.
