This is the most intimidating part of my gardening life. I wake every morning and water with my hose.

Ok, it’s May 2022 and I’ve ordered my 1/2 inch 100 ft irrigation hose, timer, the fittings, etc. now I’m waiting for everything to come in. I went with one brand to be sure everything fits. Well, except for the timer and Y fitting. My tomatoes went in the ground last month as did cucumbers, zucchini, radishes, yellow squash, green pepper, jalapeños and my sage and one green pepper plant I covered with pine straw and they survived the winter! Thank you for making me feel that I can do this! Im 58 and physically challenged but I’m trying for the first time in over 20 years! Thanks again! -KS

Tip. When assembling the 1/2" or 1/4" tubing to fittings, take a thermos filled with boiling hot water and soak 1-2" of the end of the tubing in the hot water for 10 seconds. Fittings will slide right in.
Now for my question. Based on the mfgrs flow rate of 0.5 gal/hour for the brown 1/4" tubing with emitters every 6", how long on average, do you run the water? Seems like it would take a long time to get enough water down to the deep roots.

With adding new raised beds, plus the increasing drought conditions we are getting here in summer I know I need drip irrigation in my garden. I've been putting it off as when I check out suppliers here, it all seems so complicated to install. And yet you actually make it seem simple, so I'm re inspired. Another reason for wanting drip irrigation is so I can actually go camping in the summer without worrying whether my plants are dying - and so I will need a timer. As always I appreciate your great gardening support and education. Enjoyed the hens bopping around in their garden home.

I’m in Connecticut & this is my first year gardening. Going out to water the garden during our multiple weeks heatwave was exhausting & my garden certainly suffered on days I didn’t do it. A drip system is definitely something I want before next summer.

So I was much like you Brian when it came to drip irrigation, costly and to difficult were my thoughts. Then I found Mr. Landscaper irrigation at Lowe's. Very affordable and exceptionally easy especially with their video tutorials. I now have one for my front landscaping, another on the side of my house and a 4 line timer for the back yard that waters 2 landscaping beds, all pots and the garden. The timer is very easy to set and has made my gardening less stressful and everything looks fantastic. I had a neighbor walking past my house this week and she asked me who did my landscaping as she wanted to hire them to do her yard. When I told her I did it all she said it looked wonderful and professionally done. What a compliment!

Great video Brian! The terrible part for me, is I’ve had all the drip materials sitting in my garage for the last month. Every... and I mean “every” time I water, I think about the drip. You are very correct that about it being such a time saver. It just takes some effort (well, time) to put it in. Sooo worth it tho!
I gotta say too - your video is far more informative, understandable, and to the point, than any other drip “how-to” video that I’ve seen. Thanks again!

Cant tell you how much i enjoy your program and young Noah is a natural.
Have only taken up gardening since retirement and our move away from London, we have divided the garden with a wooden bridge
front end with flowers and plants and back end with vegetables and fruit trees.
I now have my Courgettes and Marrow growing quite happily up stakes, i am also still growing new seeds for this year as i now know my
first frost date.
Each morning i am out early to hose our produce but worry that my friends and neighbors will be needed when we go on holiday to continue
watering, so to me drip irrigation sounds a God send.
Keep educating this novice with gardening tips.
Thanks.

We have been trying to get started with drip our garden has expanded far more than we planned on with the help of your videos we added about 5x the space onto our garden this year. It takes well over an hour to water right now. Thank you for all your great videos.

Great video. My husband actually put some drip irrigation to my container tomatoes and a soaker hose in my small raised bed. He also bought the Orbit advanced timer but it has been nothing but trouble. When it worked it was so nice because I didn’t have to stand out in this 100 degree Houston heat and try to keep everything watered. It watered deeper and more consistently. But then, it stopped working only after two months. He set it up just like they suggested. This sounds like a great timer. So glad you shared this information. Blessings to you.🥰👩‍🌾🌻

I work the nightshift which can get problematic with consistency. It would be a load off my mind knowing my garden is being watered and taking care of while i sleep. Love your videos, and your giveaways are much appreciated. Cheers!

I did it! I did it yesterday! Had to use a 16-gallon container and a water pump since there's no access to an outside faucet. The only thing I didn't know about was a pressure reducer, so I'm off to Home Depot or Ace--or wherever they have one--so that I can finally get my little system up and running. I am so excited about it! 😄

I've wanted to try the drip system in my garden for a while now. I'm disabled and use a cane. It's a little intimidating at times. Having a drip system would allow me that saved time to actually enjoy the garden and even do more maintenance. Thank you for doing this for us! 😍

First time commenting on anything! I live in Tamworth Australia and I'm starting my own veggie garden. I've seen a couple of video's of yours and I've decided to make a patch of tomatoes as well as a different variety of other fruit and veg! Thank you for your video's, they have been very helpful! 🌱🌱🍅🍅

I’ve used three kinds of drip in my gardens. PVC and drip tape on closely spaced row crops and the kind you showed for things farther apart. I put my tomatoes 5’ apart, peppers 2 1/2’ apart. So I used 2 gallon per hour emitters on most things, but for smaller potted things I use 1/2 gallon per hour. For some things I use one gallon per hour.

The drip irrigation system would be so helpful for me. With the 90 plus temperatures here in South Carolina this past July and August I ended up being more soaked than the garden is by the time I water everything. I am such a beginner but I've been learning tons on your videos. I have to write everything down. My husband is amazed at my progress in the garden. Your wealth of information is amazing. Your presentation is perfect. You don't waste our time with what you have to share in your videos. You get to the point of your subject and don't make videos longer than they need to be. Thank you for everything you do for us. Signed: Misplaced California Girl :)

I visited Lowes a couple days ago and was so confused I simply gave up. Thanks a bunch for your video. I'm making a list, checking it twice, LOL. I just completed 2 raised garden beds 5x8 so I desperately need an easier way to water. Its HOT here in FL too!
