Ever since Dominoes delivered a pizza by drone back in 2016 there was an expectation that we would soon have drones constantly buzzing above our heads.

But the mass adoption has been slower than many might have predicted. As of the end of 2022 there are roughly 35,000 delivery drones (which is growing at fast pace) but it's still not common place to see one in the air.

Well the technology is continuing to advance and beyond direct-to-consumer delivery (known formally as last mile delivery), a new company called Elroy Air is working to bring a much more robust model to the market.

It's being designed to accommodate up to 300 lbs of cargo and will serve more of the middle mile, that is goods that need to be delivered quickly between warehouses.

In somewhat related news I crashed my drone (twice) trying to lift a single pound.

I highly recommend not hooking up any payload whatsoever to a consumer drone as I crashed the damn thing 3 times trying to make that short clip 🫤

Too bad I never could beta test the Wal Mart drone delivery. They would never let me complete the order
