Fast-switching in CS:GO

I tried with the AWP and with a couple of other weapons, but it seems as though they're all the same. In other words, invisible timers stop you from exploiting the system.

As others have pointed out, there are reasons for still quick-switching, I've listed them below:

Fast-switching doesn't give you any sort of time advantage, but WILL prevent you from auto-zooming in again.

It will also cancel a reload that you've initiated.

Fast-switching will replace the reload sound with a 'switching weapons' sound.

Who would have thought that fast-switching was so complicated.

The only time I like to fast-switch is to get out of a scope.

you don't switch with the awp to shoot faster, you switch to cancel the scope to zoom in again after a shot.

When AWPing I always quick switch.
Its a habit, I do it to reset the zoom every time I shoot.
I'm an offensive AWPer so I have to be quick.

I use fast-switching only to cancel out the scoped effect, that way I am ready to go when I swap back to the awp/scout. Lots of people use this as well, and you did not cover it. I also agree a lot with LAUNDERS CSTRIKE and his point.

you still need to switch your weapon to be able to strafe after each firing rounds. also it's a good habit to swap to your secondary weapon in case your awp misses and you have to engage your enemy in a close combat. SO YES, THERE IS ADVANTAGE TO SWITCHING AFTER AN AWP FIRE.

Fast switching does help for deagles, whuch take forever to recover its full accuracy of its first shot. By fast switching, you force the accuracy to reset.

You dont "quick switch" to get a faster shot, you "quick switch" to pull out of the zoom animation so you can actually see.
