It’s rough for graduates and junior devs. Most companies just simply hire experienced developers and overlook junior devs because they don’t want to invest money and time in training anyone.

If you don't have either an amazing portfolio, practical experience in a production environment or at least a Bachelors Degree in Comp Sci it's going to be very hard for you to get a Dev/Eng job right now. You actually also need to enjoy development, know the tech lingo and solve problems that you're passionate about or even make your life easier through automation. This makes it a lot easier to network and have conversations with other developers and they will take you more seriously and connect with you more. It's definitely possible to get a job even without a degree, but you need to put in the work, as well as enjoy the journey and NETWORK!

It doesnt matter what do you learn. Companies are looking for cheap remote labour to the south

I have been looking for a new opportunity for almost 2 years. I have 3 years of experience right now, own multiple products inside the company I work on and to be honest I think I'm enough.. unfortunately on the past 6 months I only got 1 answer and was a no. I have a portfolio, I have experience, I studied CS Science.. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I'm starting to give up on this because looks like no matter how good you are, there will always be someone better asking for less money

Actually the jobs simply got shipped to India and Eastern Europe. No it's not AI.

The best solution for us is to become a --> Full Stack Developer + UX/UI designer + a 3rd profession ( Marketing - or - sales - or - Cisco Network Engineer - CCNA - or - Cyber Security - or - plumber)

Forecasts are nice and all, but we also have to consider the impact AI will have on those stats, which I don't think was originally considered. Devs have become more productive however you want to look at it. So we do more work with less devs. Furthermore, there are many kids graduating now and in the future with their comp sci degrees that basically went to study pre-AI when everything was still sunshine and roses. So there will be a huge influx of new people in the next years. Lastly, open positions to fill will often be left empty if the company doesn't find what they deem to be the right candidate, which often means the junior dev gets left standing in the rain.

In my country, suddenly all jobs mostly added NextJS as Requirements (mostly use 'proficient' word) in January, then on February, All Job Strong Required Automated Testing, and then march mostly job needed Fluent English Conversation, then from April until now, it still hard to get job as Frontend, even for middle/senior. Hope Next Will Be Better.

Bro you are SOOOO out of touch, doing research on old and misleading data... 🤦‍♂ it's obvious it's been MANY years since you tried to get your first developer job and also obvious that you are not close to anyone in that situation.

Nowadays there are about 2000 applicants for each junior opening. That's right, you are competing against a couple THOUSAND others like you for a single position. I know this not just from personal experience but also from talking to HR and recruiters in the other end.

I hope they define at most three dev stacks, so that people stop getting lost into what stack they should learn, and companies stop throwing whatever mix of technologies into there jobs requirements, they even adding other tech specializations quite often such as graphics design, devops, and digital marketing, that's crazy.

In my experience is a very slow process in Ireland, hard to find a new job. A big competition.

I spent countless days from dusk till dawn learning how to code, learning React, building projects, interviewing for many roles and constantly got rejected. I used to be hopeful about life and think all I needed was to put in the work so thats what I did.

Now i often contemplate deleting myself, and im kinda ashamed to admit it. I realize meritocracy doesnt exist, and success is overwhelmingly based on luck.

That chart is completely false. It's not going to grow. It is extremely hard to find a job. I've been unemployed for over two months.

This makes absolutely no sense. How can average developer salary be calculated without counting all the zeros that unemployed developers get paid?

You’re just averaging the employed numbers which don’t fluctuate and are not indicative of anything.

Japan’s economy just imploded and 🇨🇳 is in a depression. Germany 🇩🇪 and England are both on recessions. All software engineers, especially junior ones must prepare for a reversion similar to the 2008 Great Financial Crisis 🧐.
