Great Video.
I’m a proud owner of a MK7 R and love the car. I am also a proud Magna employee who enjoys seeing videos by end users about our products!

Good video guys. I'd love to see the Roller test comparing the Mk7.5 and the Mk8 to see how well the two systems handle loosing traction on different wheels.

Great stuff, just a note I was driving my Mk V R32 and getting on the freeway in traffic I accidentally drove over some debris on the roadway. Well long story short, the debris cracked my rear Haldex case. Ouch. I got a flatbed to take me the car to my dealer for repair, well $5000 for the Haldex and $1000 to do the repair. Lucky me I called my insurance and calmed Road Hazard and $250.00 is all I had to pay. Look out for Road Hazards! Stay well and keep up the great videos.

Nice! Thanks for breaking that down for us. I had thought the new AWD still was based on a Haldex system, but with the new E-diff in the rear.

That said, how does it sent the power to the rear to begin with? Is it using a center differential, or a transfer case? IIRC it's always sending 50% of the torque to the rear, but those clutch packs can engage or disengage completely to, essentially, make it front wheel drive if wanted. But I'm just curious how they designed the tranny to split the power front and rear...?

Ext time you introduce the Golf R. A pirate patch and a parrot on your shoulder is a must.

...you got me thinking why I did not get the R mk8... but that is a different story...

The Mercedes dealer told me my First Edition AMG 45 was part-time AWD, but predominantly FWD until pushed hard or reduced grip on the front wheels. Driving around town, city reads or motorways meant improved mpg; even for an AMG.
Great video guys, good explanation.
