This ending is even more terrifying if you remember what Kettle said earlier
"You will be soon be a match for that no good King Dice and maybe even the devil himself"
So, the Devil is working with people who are stronger than him. Imagine the possible horrible things they can do together.

Around this part, the devil suddenly changes the terms of the deal from "letting them go" to "join my team."

It's right in your face, but could be easy to miss when you're just so eager to end this hell-on-earth adventure.

And that's how I accidentally got the bad ending.

I like how this is an actual bad ending. In most games, the final boss is defeated, things are kinda shitty for the main characters, but they still go on with their lives. Meanwhile in Cuphead, both Cuphead and Mugman fuck themselves and everyone else over by handing over the soul contracts to the Devil and essentially becoming his slaves

Not gonna lie, Devil's Cronies Cuphead and Mugman look like a pretty cool semi-boss duo if there was a bad ending sequel with a new protagonist. Imagine these two as the Devil's bodyguards!
