Welcome to the final episode of our nine-part Oman series, covering our 1 month 4x4 camping road trip around Oman in February and March 2022.

We wake up in the Rub al Khali desert (The Empty Quarter), pretty much as far south as we could get in Oman and set off for the 1000 km drive north to the Sayq (Saiq) Plateau in the Al Hajar Mountains. We arrive at sunset and set up camp close to the luxurious Alila Jabal Akhdar resort (with similar spectacular views but a £0 price tag!).

We spend a second night camping in the Jebel Akhdar region, at a glorious mountaintop spot overlooking Wadi Bani Kharus, before descending to the old mudbrick village of Birkat Al Mawz and on to Wadi Al Abyadh for our final night in Oman.
