Gatekeeping in Gaming is NATURAL

Gatekeeping is a misunderstood, perhaps willfully maligned concept that (contrary to popular mainstream belief) is entirely natural, completely understandable, and has a very real, utility rooted purpose.

There will always be those who deny entry to a space for invalid reasons but the base concept of Gatekeeping is meant to protect a space from those that would willfully or intentionally ruin it.

The best thing that can happen to your hobbies is to remain big enough to sustain themselves but no bigger than that. When they're small, they're friendly, personal, respectful towards the thing and you know that everyone in the community is there because of a real passion or liking for the thing.

In D&D, want to know why we "GateKeep"? Because of another phenomenon: "That Guy". You know who he is, even if you've never played D&D before, because he's THAT GUY.
