We asked the Whiskey Tribe to vote up the epitome of BOURBON, and the Magnificent Bastards answered with 5 exceptional examples of CLASSIC BOURBON. Every Magnificent Bastard knows that taste can be extremely subjective - especially when it comes to whisk(e)y. (see Rule #1: The "best" whiskey is the whiskey you like to drink - the way you like to drink it.) But is there a consensus for what common flavors define bourbon as a category? Here's your results for the most CLASSIC / QUINTESSENTIAL / REPRESENTATIVE / PROTOTYPICAL / CONSUMMATE bourbons available today.

I will always love the Woodford Reserve regular bottle. Was flying to my grandmother's funeral last year and the entire family was toasting our memories of her on the flight. Woodford was the bourbon available on Delta so it's what I was drinking. Now every sip I take brings back a ton of warm memories.

Would be cool to see a similar video for each scotch region. Like a "classic" speyside, classic islay, campbeltown, etc

When on a long distance backpacking hike, a flask of any one of these has accompanied me. At 65, the miles hurt me more than they used to....but a couple pulls of a quality bourbon, subverts the aches—-even making the gnats an mosquitoes more tolerable! Great review!

Daniel: Today we're tasting a bourbon..
Rex: I'm getting cherry, oak, and a grassy note..
Daniel: Rex, let me open the damn bottle, ok???
Rex: And maybe a honey note...

I thought I was a bourbon guy but have recently fallen in love with smokey scotches. Ardbeg is my JAM!

Wild Turkey 101 is my absolute favorite bourbon. When I first found your channel I wanted to try a bourbon after watching some videos. went to the liquor store and the cost of 101 was all I had in my pocket. I will forever be grateful.

Maker's Mark is what made me fall irreversibly in love with bourbon. It's an old love affair. Scotch is nice, Canadian whiskey is great, and Japanese whiskey is an unexpected treat, but Kentucky Bourbon has my heart.

Happy to see that at no1 - changed my mind about bourbon. (Changed to not spoil the vid for others)

For me it will always be Wild Turkey 101, because that is the bourbon I grew up with.
(to be fair and honest though, it doesn't taste the same as it did back then in the Austin Nichols days, ... I think it's better nowadays)

I have absolutely no use for Wizard of Ads, but the mere fact that they’re cool with all the shenanigans these guys do during the ads makes me want to give them money

The WT101 does it for me, I love some Buffalo trace but sometimes it is a little light for my tastes, I typically prefer higher proof whiskey. Now obviously with the WT products I'll opt for either Rare Breed or a RR single barrel (store pick if possible) but for the price the 101 is hard to beat.

1. Buffalo Trace. (1st and 2nd votes neck and neck).

Cant disagree with the top 2 one little bit. Whether I grab BT or 101 has more to do with the way the day went.

Completely agree. All of those are "Quintessential." BT and WT101 are incredible for the price!

Thanks for the entertaining vids guys. I'm 45 and have never been into drinking spirits/alcohol but I've recently been experimenting a little with rums and bourbons and vodka as more of a flavor/experience type of thing. I've never cared for feeling buzzed or drunk at all but I really appreciate flavors and new experiences. These vids are not only informative but just so enjoyable, you guys are hilarious, I can't stop watching. Now I want to taste test all these different brands.

Great episode. As a "beginner" this is right up my alley. I've been considering getting #1 but this solidified that choice for me.

Tried the 101 in Mt. Dew, was camping and didn't have glasses, and it turned into a lightly carbonated apple juice with light oak taste. It was fantastic.
