I have been using a Drill Doctor for well over a decade and wouldn't look elsewhere. Easy, fast and accurate with a reasonable price PLUS a bonus, it's made by our neighbours to the south in the USA. 👍

Thanks Todd for all your thorough reviews. Your effort is much appreciated!

I'd love to see more Truper products put to the test! Here in México, they have a strong brand presence. Their main "competition" is Urrea and their associated brands.

Todd, hit this one out of the park! Awesome review, I have a old drill doctor that has saved me countless dollars in bits and time saved on the job from always having a sharp drill bit to drill with. Your reviews are always top notch. Great work, Thank you.

Nice work Todd. It's refreshing to see someone that can properly use a drill doctor. Theres many videos of people who just can't set them up, and get poor results, therefor giving bad reviews. Keep up the good work.

I've had the old style drill dr for 7-8 years and i love it! If you follow the simple instructions it works perfect every time and splitting the points really seems to help performance with cordless drills.

Nice. Just a longer term comment. I’ve had that drill doctor for more than 5 years. I use it for metalwork on a lathe and drill-press mostly. I do tend to mess with the lip geometry in the +and - slots like you did at 135 but for 118. This determines how aggressive the bits are. There is a little bit of a learning curve to it but with steel you know if you did it right in a hurry. A properly sharpened bit can go through many inches of steel where a mistake can’t make it through 1/8” steel. And split points are where it’s at.

This was a great side by side comparison as all are. The only factor not comparable was durability of the sharpener itself. I can personally attest. I used the Drill Doctor at work for over 15yrs. I personally sharpened thousands of drill bits. We never had an issue with the unit. I did replace the sharpening stone after 12yrs of service. For the money I believe they have the best system hands down.

This video is very timely. Just a couple of days ago, I was drilling a bunch of holes in some mild steel and the bit started wearing out. After every few holes, I used my old first-generation Drill Doctor to sharpen the bit. It was working great until it suddenly wasn’t. Looking at the tip geometry, it was way off and putting a small bevel on the leading edge. I couldn’t figure out why, so I freehanded it on a bench grinder for the remaining holes.

It got me thinking it was time for a new drill sharpener and I looked at this channel to see if there was a recommendation. A day later, here it is! Thank you, Todd!

Great video! Those screwdrivers that have an interchangeable internal shafts are anywhere from 7 in 1 to 14 in 1. Some ratchet, some don't. I'd suggest testing those, because I'm curious about what the advantages or disadvantages might be, and if money means anything when making a selection.

I still use my old Drill Doctor and am quite happy with it. I have some drills so short (but sharp) I almost can't use it anymore.
