i saved a salamander once. found a dried up one in the sand in the middle of a sidewalk. it was hot as hell out. i was pretty sure it was dead. was probably there for more than a day. it was all stiff and covered in sand. but i decided to try and put it in water. a minute later it was fully functional. little guy was pretty lucky
