ngl i wish there was more content like this out there. anything on voicemeeter is usually like bare bones banana and i committed to potato along time ago cause i use it for both streaming and to broadcast music while in vr. and they did updates to both obs and vr and i couldnt for the life of me figure out how to fix it because i only barebones understood what the hell was going on in banana (which they also updated). honestly after watching this i feel like i actually understand the software now. why it works the way it works & for people who learn that way, dude thats such a huge thing. so thanks . forsure deserves more attention. ♥

This... doesn't sound right. I've been using Voicemeeter potato for years and came to learn about more of the in-depth details, but B1 is not your default Output device, it's your default Input device, and B2 is your secondary input device, just as B3 is your tertiary input device, which lots of people do have a use for, it's kinda limiting for a tutorial to tell you to never use.
A1 is your default output device, A2 secondary output etc.
Maybe I'm just majorly misinterpreting what this video is saying but it seems false.

Edit: So I think I've figured out what's going on, you're redirecting your AUX Input to your AUX output, then setting your AUX output to be your microphone, which you do not need to do.
For instance, in my Voicemeeter, I have my Default (VAIO) as my general default output, so any software will by default go to that, same as you. I have my second output (AUX) set to Discord, so that I can manually change the volume of discord and other media independently, I then have my third (VAIO 3) set to my music player, so I can control the volume of that independently too. I have all 3 of those set to A1 for my headphones, with the option to enable A2 which I have set to my speakers. I do not have *any* B numbers enabled on any of those 3, as all 3 are going to my ears so I don't need to enable microphone inputs.
in the left panels, I have 1 in use, my microphone, I have all the As disabled and I have only B1 enabled on it, because I know that B1 refers to the default Input (VAIO), so I can set Voicemeeter Input VAIO as my default input and it will be my microphone, with the benefit of being able to adjust volumes and add EQ, there is no need to route it through the outputs.

I know this is a bit old, but I had a question if you or anyone knows. When you're changing the default input/output in sound settings, I don't have a voicemeeter aux option for input. I had my mic, cable output, and voicemeeter out A1-A5 and B1-B3

I'm trying to map my Mic through Potato to Windows Speech Recognition. @5:50 You say the Microphone, which has selected B2 is being sent to AUX Input. But AUX Input does not have B2 selected, it has B1. In my setup, I have VAIO setup to my Speakers; AUX going to my Shakers card; and I'm trying to setup VAIO 3 as my Mic

I bought it and it bothered me a lot choosing input and output, and I heard the sound with distortion
Can you provide me with remote technical support through Anydesk software even if it is paid?

The way you've described it though... what's the point? Just select your microphone in any program. I thought the power of VM was that you can combine and split audio sources so as to create different audio channels. E.g., you want to hear discord, but don't want your stream to hear discord.

So I'm curious. If you set the system default input and output settings correctly, why do you need to also specify them within a game that you're playing? Is there a benefit to being that specific?

Whenever I download the voice meter it doesn't show up anywhere

Just downloaded this so I'm brand new to it. This is perhaps a stupid question, but why does nobody seem to use the VAIO3 input for anything? Also, are there any solid rules/reasons for choosing VAIO, Aux, or VAIO3 for whatever you're trying to put through? What is the difference between these three inputs under the hood?
