David Cameron asked Queen to 'raise eyebrow' during Scottish independence referendum

David Cameron has said he did not ask the Queen for 'anything improper' after revealing that he suggested to her private secretary how the monarch could possibly influence the outcome of the 2014 Scottish independence referendum, before she went on to make an intervention that was widely seen as having helped the faltering pro-union campaign. In the second part of a BBC series about his life in politics, to be broadcast next week, the former prime minister said a YouGov survey in September 2014, which put the campaign for independence in the lead for the first time, hit him 'like a blow to the solar plexus' and led to 'a mounting sense of panic'

If Cameron felt a poll indicating a Scottish leave lead was like a "blow to the solar plexus", then surely the night of the Brexit vote must have felt like a horse kicking him in the nether regions! Perhaps not?

After all, Cameron promoted the feeling amongst the public that the EU was the nexus of Britain's problems, including the devastating austerity that Cameron had imposed.

I’m absolutely no royalist by any means (I firmly believe monarchy should be done with in the modern world) but all she said was “I hope people will think very carefully about their future.” That isn’t a support for a no vote that was the diplomatic answer as far as I can see.

Admitting the Queen of England was interfering in politics and trying to influence the PM of England on the freedom of Scottish votes to have a choice of leaving the union with England.

If the Queen raised a disapproving eyebrow to deter Scottish independence then it will have been in keeping with the coronation oath to 'govern' the UK according to its 'laws and customs'. The same must go for the proroguing of parliament or else that would be in breach of the oath, which of course, is there to protect citizens from a feral parliament thickheaded on the illusion of its own 'sovereignty' attempting to have the monarch assent into law a bill abolishing elections- or a de facto federalisation of the UK by ansclussing to a consortium of foreign powers.
