In this episode of The Exam Room™ podcast, Neal Barnard, M.D., joins “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll to discuss the enormous environmental implications of adopting a plant-based diet. Thirty percent of total greenhouse gas emissions can be attributed to food production, with animal products accounting for the majority of that, according to leading scientific researchers. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! For the full episode, listen at PCRM.org/Podcast or your favorite podcast provider!

If the whole world went vegan I wouldn’t have a job which would make me the happiest man alive! As a plant-based cardiologist I try to convince everybody daily to switch to a healthy vegan diet. I may only get 5-10% to change but it is making a difference! Keep spreading the word and inspiring! Hopefully the world will wake up before it’s too late!

Thank you for this wonderful video! It’s time that we as humans realize this does not fall on one specific place or person it is something that falls on all of us.

Extinction Rebellion just had a massive protest; but they are not vegan. We need consistency to make change. Thanks for the video, and introducing him, by his proper name pronunciation.

Just want to add, that livestock consumes more fish, than people do. So, terrestrial animals are contributing to ocean dead zones.... chew on that.

Thank you for this video I am a vegan I have been for over three years now I am also a smog check technician in the state of California and I can personally say that as we are inspecting cars we are seeing lots and lots of improvement regarding the emission output of each car truck van etc. and as you gentlemen are raising The facts regarding the methane production is very true and I like to point out from a professional point of view that there is no improvement on how the cow produces that methane or in that matter how to reduce the production of methane except as you gentlemen say to change one's lifestyle of food choices and consumption such a choice I made and now I am Close to 100% helping the environment in my personal choices and in my profession I also urge everyone to consider the future of our planet and to stop being so ignorant thank you and may you have more subscribers and more followers in order to share the message.

I decided to go on a plant based diet. I bought a juicer. It is hard for me to eat as many vegetables as I need so I made them into smoothies and it has been great! The one problem that I noticed that my stomach is bloated.

I am on the process of switching from vegetarian to be raw vegan, since I never liked cooked food and meat, the only sacrifice I did was sea food, since I like the taste of it.
But as a vegetarian I avoid to try to convince people to dramatically change their diets, they don't like vegans who do that at all, most doctors don't care to educate people and doctors who do, and say to limit meat and fish people don't listen at all.
This might sounds harsh and that I am full of myself, but it might be since most of us are believers of evolution, the practice of consuming meat even cannibalism was a practice of Neanderthals, and I just learned lately that the practice of cannibalism was exercised till 18th century and for health reasons, some people believed some parts were healthy, so my theory is that since evolution is a very slow progress, and yes since ancient times there are people who exercise vegeterianism, maybe not all people are endowed from evolution, maybe people aren't ready yet for massive change, because their DNA isn't evolved much.
Again I might sound cruel, but I think evolution will change with the future generations and they will practice a plant based diet out of instinct, in little words, let the old DNA simply die from whatever disease, they don't listen at all, I hear their conversations, they are anti vegans to the in such level I have lost faith in those generations. We need new blood, educated one, and new DNA.

Convince gov to let everyone have an acre of free tax free fertile land that they can live on and grow a food forest on.
Alot of people dont seem to understand how greenhouse gases work or if they and the greenhouse gas effect is real, could u explain how they do and show them in an obvious way so people can understand if greenhouses gases exsist and how they work, and teach them how they can do their own expirment to show if they exsist and how.

Do those number unclude the amount of cows we would still keep on planet?
Also, seems like a huge part of the problem is GMOs and pesticides...i think that needs to be addressed.

The world needs a bit of balance. I think the first place we need to start is cutting down our meat intake. Meat provides a lot of nutrients and you still have to make vitamins and supplements.

Of all the methods to combat global warming, getting everyone to go vegan will be by far the hardest.

I have a doubt, okay so now all he crop is not being fed to those animals and chickens but its not like they will disappear and so will their food requirements. What will they eat? Grass and plants. So how will the land that is used in agriculture get reduced?

I was vegan for 2 years and am no longer vegan. I don't know which way to live is the correct way but I'd like some of you to give me some answers to questions I have. I'm not being rude by asking any of these. Just truly would like to know. What if no animals were ever butchered again? What effect would this have on their population? Any negative effects? How could we feed the masses of people on the planet without harvesting animals? Is it possible? What about the vitamins we get from animals that we cannot get from plants? I know for a fact there are se that we cannot get from plants. We could probably take supplements I suppose. But then what goes into making enough supplements for the whole planet? I'm not anti-vegan in any way. I'm considering going back to that lifestyle. I'd just love to hear from you all on these topics. Thank you all ❤️

What about the amount of energy required to heat and cool 3000 to 4000 square foot of homes per family? Looks like lot of optimization can be made there…
