if we observe carefully kaigaku and kokushibo shared the same kokushibo became a demon cuz he was jealous of yorichii and wanted to become stronger than him so he thought becoming a demon will do so and kaigaku had the same emotions for zenitsu and so became a demon in order to become stronger than zenitsu
