Phonophobia is defined as a continuous, abnormal, and unwarranted fear of sound. Sometimes, these are normal environmental sounds (e.g., traffic, kitchen sounds, doors closing, or even loud speech) that cannot be damaging at all. But even if we don't have phonophobia, there would be at least a sound that scares us. This comparison video is a list of sounds which scare people the most, audio included.

Anything loud-ish or unexpected at all scares me, but I can usually calm down after a few seconds of rationalizing - figuring out what it was, and assessing the real danger of the situation.
Some of those scare me until I'm away from the situation entirely, like angry people and dogs. And if I'm actually in danger I won't calm down for days, sometimes months.

Dogs barking is one thing.. it's when they're snarling and staring you down that's so much scarier. I love dogs but I'm still a bit scared of them after an attack when I was a kid.

People shouting pushes up my adrenaline level because it reminds me of my childhood where an adult shouting meant that I was about to be punished. Also, the sound of a heart beat through a stethoscope. Very creepy.
