Try boiling them for 5 minutes first. That way they’re perfectly cooked after they’ve been on the grill for 3 to 4 minutes to brown and they’re not dried out either.

My German mother always boiled sausages to bring them up to temp before releasing them to my dad who destroyed them on the BBQ. He also did steaks on the BBQ which were great for people who enjoyed chewing on leather.

The reason to grill them dry is to get the fat out. Why you want to eat the fat?That is why you are grilling after all. Or you can go back to frying.
