More About "Many Moons":
2045 - NOBLE; A national space exploration corporation has spent two decades building an infrastructure on Jupiter's moons, Collisto and Europa. The eventual goal for the expedition is to build a new home for humans, using a hypothesized technique known as terraforming. A large, manned structure is built on Europa, with the aim to use the oceans underneath the frozen moon, to give unlimited power to the terraformer and create an atmosphere in a fraction of the time. The decades long mission, has so far, not given any results. The number of workers on the surface has decreased over the years, given the loss in resources and funding. One of the few remaining teams, Europa 1, are still active on the surface. They’re tasked with surveying the surrounding area of the terraformer and looking for positive results. The land has become very hostile, resulting in extreme weather conditions and sporadic earthquakes. The team represents the last hope for NOBLE’s efforts to make Europa a home for humans. John Peake, one of the 4 crew members of this team, unwillingly leads the final effort, during the inevitable demise of the expedition.

I'm very excited to see my short film premiere on DUST! It was a lot of fun to put this together and it's felt like a journey in itself. I hope everyone enjoys! :)

I am afraid that I did not understand the "plot". But the images and special effects are quite impressive.

A case where the production values far, far exceeded the writing skill. Gorgeous to watch (and listen to), but a baffling, nonlinear plot.

Looks good, but a shame I had to read the video description for it to make sense

I'm very humbled and appreciative of people watching this film; thank you for all the great feedback! And to hear it's connected with people on a personal level, is exciting. For those who have issues following the plot, I can only suggest watching the entire film from start to finish, with the sound. On the surface, the narrative is straight forward; man left on the moon himself, on the verge of giving up, until he makes a discovery that gives him and the mission a glimmer of hope. The story goes deeper, for those who want to watch and listen more closely. Everything is considered; The computer screens, the props, the recording etc. All in aid of the story. Even John's behaviour is an exploration into trauma and loneliness. I appreciate this isn't going to land with some people and that's totally fine; it's all subjective at the end of the day. But it's certainly not just a visual showcase. Thank you again, I appreciate any and all engagement :)

The film has potential as following along the lines of: "2001, A Space Odyssey", but falls short in it's cohesive sequential storyline... encouragement to the team putting this together to go with further refinements.

Special effects, set design, and costume design all high marks. Plot unclear. Doesn't have to be crystal clear, just more structured, and easier to follow.

I always read before I look at a film what it’s about so I get it. With this I felt like I was there. Looks so real.

Beautiful visuals. Story is very unclear to me.

I really like the animation in this Sci-Fi short. The overall visual aesthetic matched well with the subject matter. So on that front, job Ross and Team! I will say that, although there are enough bread crumbs to allow the viewer to piece together what was going on, I came away at the end feeling as if I didn't have all of the pertinent details to truly inform my understanding of what was supposed to be happening/or had happened, on Europa with this mission. After reading the synopsis in the video description, I have a newfound respect and appreciation towards this project's scope and ambition with regards to the story it is trying to tell. This little gem is getting added to my favorites.

There was a general sense of hopelessness throughout. The dark mood was well done. I got the sense he was the last man, and was just waiting for the end. At the end, the woman who had been trying to reach him and to whom he never responded, said "It's beautiful." I had to read comments to be sure what that meant. Evidently he made a useful discovery. But this was nowhere apparent. Little of what is revealed in the synopsis was apparent during the film. A story shouldn't require an additional explanation. I do get, though, that terraforming the moons of Jupiter would be a dicey business. Hopefully we'll never have to bet on that.

This looks great but I had very little idea what was going on. He was alone and wouldn't answer anyone, for some reason. People died somewhere because something they built had a negative affect. They came looking for him and uploaded his mind??

Reminds me of my lecture once said: If your goal is of a narrative story but failed to bring the audience into it, then they often will start holding on to other things like how good the technical parts are like visual and audio since those elements are easily taking over and the audience want to find something to make sense of

Agree with many other comments here: gorgeous visuals and music, plot too difficult to follow. Not saying you have to explain everything, but do explain some.

The atmosphere of this film is dark and brooding. Reminds me of Solaris,

this was visually stunning and the sound effects was spot on, but the plot its self was weak and pretty loose. It was honestly hard to understand easily getting lost in translation. Overall this short film is good if you don't care about understanding the plot
