Its bizarre and unbelievable that the Japanese people don't know about their past imperial atrocities. Its not that Japan "was friend with the Nazis". It's that Nazims and Imperial Jpana had the idea of taking as much territory in the world and dividing the world between them. Both countries rationalized that in order to "progress" they needed resources that were available in other countries. Japan's war crimes in China and the neighbours countries are world-famous. I wonder what kind of education the Japanese receive.

"Nazi's is Germany, right?" For real?? I mean I absolutely suck at history, but any High school graduate should know that very basic information.
Not to mention, if she was raised in Japan then she sure as hell should know a lot more of this information. Especially events that have occurred within the last century.

I love Japan and have Japanese friends. Japan did shit in WWII and while Japanese today should not be blamed for the WWII atrocities, but present day Japanese cannot continue to be in denial of the wrongs done by their ancestors.

interesting but also begs to ask if it is not taught in school, do the Japanese understand why the US dropped atomic bombs? I went to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and they was very little said about the Japanese unwilling to negotiate the end of war against the US.

So, interesting point of view:

In America, we're taught that the reason we dropped both bombs was because the loss of life for American soldiers alone would've been upwards of 1, 000, 000 if there was a land invasion into Japan, as the Japanese would have never surrendered once we were actively invading, and therefore it seemed "better" to just drop the bombs on Japanese people vs losing 1, 000, 000 Americans. There's a LOT more to it than that, but that is the general idea as to why it happened.

I'm curious what is taught in Japan about "why" it happened. If you aren't taught that Japan and Nazi Germany were allies, then what are you taught about the bombs?
