Opportunity's Last Message: Why did it go silent on Mars?

My battery is low, and its getting dark.
This is the final message NASA scientists received from the opportunity rover on mars. Launched in the summer of 2003, along with its twin rover spirit, the missions were designed to last just 90 days. After surviving on Mars for almost 15 years, in 2018; Opportunity went silent.

It’s hard to make me emotional over a robot I never met, but Opportunity’s last words sent a chill down my spine and nearly brought me to tears since it sounds almost exactly like an innocent child who doesn’t know what will happen next.

I never expected to feel genuinely sad for rovers but wow.
