One thing I forgot in the video is the a/c drain. Reroute the drain using a piece of heater hose glued to the drain long enough to reach past the pan, especially on the trucks. It drains onto the band struts and the solenoid connector causing corrosion.

You're my hero! "It's full when it's full"! You know why they are asking what the spec for the fluid capacity is: because lazy. A spec can say anything, but there is no way for you to know the precise amount of fluid that transmission will require. Besides, there's a paying customer behind that transmission and it ought to be the first thing on their minds when they decide to do the right thing (or not). I don't doubt they would be furious to find out someone did that to their vehicle. I've been a master mechanic for over 15 years, and I feel your frustration and empathize with your rant. I sure hope they look to you for inspiration when they decide how to shape their careers in the future. There's a reason they are the pullers/installers, and you are the one doing the real work diagnosing and properly repairing/rebuilding those transmissions.

Thank you for making this video. I have been working on cars for 30 years and would never have attempted this without videos like yours. This puts a Hayes manual to shame.

Great video. Getting ready to pull trans out of 02 mountaineer 4.6 2wd. Truck shifts good. But has a power steering whine noise, no matter if park or neutral. Definitely trans, think it's pump. If torque was bad it wouldn't shift right would it? Is pump bad about whining in these?

Hi. Great video thanks. Regarding the solinoid pack.. Is there a factory depth the adjustable screws should be set to? or how do you go about setting the correct depth? thanks

Hey! I’ve been using your video to rebuild a 2010 mustang 5r55S. I was going to replace the valve body but ford changed the valve body from 09-10 slightly. Are those backwards compatible by chance? If not, what sort of issues would it cause if an 08 valve body was used?

Hey man i’m about to cop a 2005 gt automatic with 100k. I’ve heard the 55r5 trans has some problems going bad between 100-150k for a lot of people. However some peoples have gone up to almost 300k. Obviously a lot of this is determined by fluid changes and how hard the car was driven..but the owner i’m buying it from said he’s never done a trans fluid or filter change. If i changed it first thing after buying you think I’d be alright? Or is a 100k trans that’s never been serviced a ticking time bomb?

Hell, your video has inferior visibility. You are head booking. Every piece you are installing is being blocked by your head. Next time, move your camera to a better angle.
