Surface Fishing for MASSIVE TROUT COD and Chunky Golden Fish

Epic day fishing on the River were Monster Trophy Trout Cod were
caught of the Surface, Though the action didn't stop there as other Freshwater Native Fish were about also. I loved it and hope you do to!!

That’s a nice PB trout cod there! I only caught my first trout cod a month or so ago. Good to see their numbers increasing

Another possibly silly question Will. I believe trout cod are mostly found further up inland rivers at higher altitudes, such around Gundigai on the Murrumbidgee, whereas Murray cod are always found further downstream at lower altitudes. Is that correct, or do find that the areas of the river where the two species live often overlap?

thanks for posting these videos, its wonderful to see trout cod of this size coming back in our rivers, Am I deluded to think there is a chance we can get these blue nose cod and Macquarie perch back to significant numbers? even half of what the old timers reported?

Great video Will. You certainly know how to fool those fish into taking a lure. Do you make your own spinnerbaits or buy them? I have read that wider Colorado blades are better than narrow willow leaf ones when fishing for natives because they spin better when retrieved slowly. This allows you to keep your spinnerbait in the strike zone for longer. Do you agree with that?

How often do you keep your catch to eat? I am from Canada so am not familiar with which fish you like to eat there.
