Lancasters were also made at the Avro shadow factory at Yeadon (Leeds/Bradford) airport. The building still exists. Good luck with your preservation efforts. The Canadians were based locally in various locations in North Yorkshire and we do not forget them or their sacrifice.

I live in Chadderton, Oldham, UK, there is a factory no more than a mile away from my house where something like 40% of Lancaster's were built.

Every Lancaster deserves to be preserved to airworthiness or static display under cover from the weather. This plane looks relatively intact and needs to be saved

Great news, well done folks. With only 17 airframes left in the world each one counts.

There's one of these magnificent planes in the motat museum in Auckland NZ. It was donated to the Rnzaf air crew by the French government as a thank you therefore should be in the RNZAF museum in Christchurch .it needs to be moved also.

"Your flight lunch was now frozen baloney sandwiches" Made me laugh out loud.
Good that they are restoring the old girl. They should re-equip her with all the turret guns, just as it originally was.
Edit: I see they did. Great job guys!

I think I speak for all aviation nuts this and every other of the 17 airframes must be saved the ones that are in the open should be under cover there is one in West Australia in similar condition these aircraft are too important to let rust away and Canada could do with a 2nd restored example Go Canada
