The Omni wheels on EcoFlow's new BLADE Robot lawn mower are pretty futuristic looking. But how well does the EcoFlow BLADE hold up to a real lawn? Well today we try out the robot lawn mower at my parents place. Since the grass at my parents yard has not been mowed yet this season - its a good test to see what kind of turf the EcoFlow BLADE can handle.

I love seeing two different styles that people will have with this. Zach's planning things out, possibly reading the instructions, remaining calm. Linus's just tossing it out, skimming instructions, trying to trick it and find work around, and just all-around chaos. Which will probably be the real world style. Lol

0:20 to be fair Husqvarna automower launched boundaryless robot mowing in 2019. It's called Husqvarna EPOS.

I switched to robot vacuums years ago and haven't looked back. Changed the whole game. Been waiting patiently for an affordable and effective solution for the yard for a while. For almost $3, 000 it looks like I'll be waiting a bit longer.

We have Worx Landroid for about 3-years now with great success. It uses a boundary wire and mows daily a random pattern. So no clippings but also no bagger. The razor blades just take a sharpening stone every 40 hours and yearly dremel sharpening. Though this one does cut in a nice pattern at almost $3, 000 the Landoid is 1/5th the price.

2600$ (early bird, normally 2900$) - standard version
3200$ - with sweeper option

Watching zack's more methodological approach on this mower after watching Linus' chaotic video is a nice contrast lol

I know it was a flub but a 300kWh mower would be AMAZING 🤩

I agree you should be able to change the mowing direction... and include diagnals. You should also be able to select it to cycle through or just do the pattern you want.

Robot lawn mowers have been super popular here in Sweden for the past few years, as much as a decade even, and the good ones work really well.

The problem I see with this is, at that price point you could hire a landscaper for YEARS and get additional services and no maintenance you have to worry about. 30-40$ a cut plus cleanups and trimming and seeding etc. I can't see spending 3000$ on something that you then have to go out and trim the edges. Still have to maintain it and it's blades.

This is not the first mower that doesn’t need a boundary wire. Husqvarna has had one for a bit now and it’s incredible. This isn’t even the first robot mower to mulch that would be the Robomow. However it is to my knowledge the first with leaf collection. Wow it seems quite loud compared to the husqvarna. Been trying to get them to send me a review unit as I want to compare it to my husqvarna

Fun video but… at $3, 000 I’d expect way more out of it 😂

This is awesome for someone who uses a wheelchair or cannot mobility wise use a mower. I love how this is set up. I have checked into other types of mowers like this but they cost a ton and often times get stuck or have other issues. I'm def going to check into this myself as I have a large hard around the house. I wonder how it would do on uneven ground, since in the video the ground was fairly level and flat. How would it do in rougher terrain?

I'm going to go ahead and say I'll wait another 5-8 years for the kinks to be worked out just like my robot vacuum, haha.

There are so many ways this could be improved. I appreciate the design, and I can see why they have gone with the omniwheel setup - but its more of a cost cut than it is simplifying anything and it will be the biggest problem with this being a truly 'automated' lawnmower. Those wheels will continually get jammed up and you'll come home to find it stuck in the middle of the lawn because of it.

One 'simple' way I can think of in terms of making this more automated/less prone to needing human intervention is to add a rubber brush system much like in the catcher but on the front, that pushes sticks out of the way and to the sides. It wouldn't be costly to add and would improve chances of it not needing maintanence or getting stuck.
