Recycling used oil for heat often emerges as the most environmentally responsible course of action. This is especially true when considering incentives to discourage the improper disposal or dumping of waste oil that continues to occur at an astonishing rate. Yet everyone turns a blind eye to cities dumping mass quantities of garbage into the ocean every day

Her is a tip we used to make these in Scotland sixty years ago we used saw dust coal dust and wallpaper paste mixed it and put into wood frames and when it dried we would sell them for twenty five Pennie’s a dozen experiment with oil saw dust and wallpaper past or plaster of Paris at the high cost of heating it’s worth it again. Waste nothing every thing has a new life

i do it the other way around.. oil soaked sawdust from oilspill cleanups & waste wheel bearings grease, old oily rags further soaked etc started my path on this trend.. ive found more efficient burn if the mix is left to infuse for a couple of weeks gives longer slower burns & course pine type chips such as chainsaw chips (im a chainsaw carver so create a lot).. i use a lot less oil, to wood ratio.. it is a way of burning a lot of cedar sawdust as heat fuel or it just smolders.. have considered bricking as well.. paper & corrogated cardboard works well too.. its only a medium to suspend the oil from flowing uncontrolled in the box hearth..

I've been burning used motor oil this way for decades. It does burn very well, puts out a tremendous amount of heat, and burns for a long time. And, if you allow ample air into the woodstove, it will burn hot enough that the smoke output is surprisingly clean.

One inventive way to recycle used oil. The trees need CO2, it is plant life's Oxygen! Thank you for promoting Plant Life. We need a Greener World! You do care about our Environment! Thanks for posting this!

Have you ever considered compressing this mixture into bricks? I’ve seen many people making eco style bricks from sawdust and wonder if the oil would help in combustion?
