The level of obfuscation & mental acrobatic tricks these IUL agents/companies commit to just to make some sales, when there are plenty of more ethical ways to go about selling insurance products is INSANE. It can even fool some seriously bright & brilliant people. Thank you for exposing this product (and certain agents) for what they really are!

Thank you so much for exposing this garbage. I initially started in the industry w LSW/NLG. I later switched over to one of the major mutuals. Whenever I speak to someone with an IUL, I tell them we must see the in-force and if they have an original that will be helpful. Very few will. I still get agent comm from NLG saying they are lowering the cap rates. My first inkling that everything was not as it seemed when I did an annual review with a client. They had indeed received almost the exact 7.14% illustrated originally. But the S&P had done over 16% on their anniversary point to point. I knew if they only received a 7.14% credit when the market was over 16%, that policy would never perform as illustrated. And that's before they had lowered cap rates from 12%.

What a great break down. I am so glad you did this. This stuff is so misrepresented. Also showing the cost of insurance rising in the policy is a great way to double down on this point.

I'm incredibly grateful for your practical demonstration of the IVL. The policy documents, spanning hundreds of pages and filled with complex jardon, contain numerous pitfalls that are difficult for the average person to comprehend. I was on the verge of purchasing this nationwide IUL, but fortunately, I came across your video. It has prevented me from investing my hard-earned savings into a product that could potentially result in a challenging retirement.

Great video. But this isn’t all IUL’s. Spread rates mostly come with polices with no cap rates. There are policies you can choose with caps that DON’T have spreads.

Loved the video and while it’s not far off now on what it should have been you can see the great compounded issue in the future. It’s a shame that while the market is doing so great the amount that can be captured by the policy is so much less due to those moving parts being adjusted by the company.

Can you do a 10 year NLG review?

I see these policies often from agents that were/are apart of PHP, GFI, WFG.

Also, can you talk a little bit more about how and why the caps can be written off as a marketing expense?

I have the Accumulator from 2018 and the par rate’s actually just increased and it’s a product that is no longer sold by Nationwide so you are wrong once again. Par rates and cap rates can increase on products no longer sold.

Interesting, please explain your theory of just buying "Call Options"? When and Where is it indicated on the buyer's policy that the general fund is only buying Call Options?
