Tres Leches Cake

You’ll love this light, fluffy tres leches cake SOAKED with a sweet mixture of three milks and topped with a cloud of whipped cream enriched with mascarpone. It’s a great make ahead cake since it only gets better the next day!!

In Nicaragua, tres leches de coco is also common: coconut milk is substituted for the whole milk and fresh coconut is added to the cream topping.

I made the Tres Leches cake today. My family & friends love it. My 75 y.o. Mexican - American bf said it was the best Tres Leches cake he ever had. He said it was traditionally a wedding cake. Warm the whole milk on the stove and then steep a cinnamon stick and a small piece of orange peel for about 5-10 minutes then take them out and use like the recipe calls for. It takes it to a much better level.

Update: Made it last night! And the cake itself with out the leche is delicious!
My two year old was asking for more crust! Saying “mas please” =D
Used cake flour instead of all purpose
Added the tres leches as directed
Used only whipped cream and confectioners sugar.
This cake is truly amazing!

I think this is by far the best tasting vanilla cake I've ever baked. My husband is lactose so he really cannot eat the cake when the 3 Milks are added to it but he doesn't fee left out because I gave him all the pieces that were cut from the cake. He said this is a really great tasting vanilla cake! I just finished putting together the Tres Leches cake and it's in the fridge right now. Can't wait to try it tomorrow with the family!
