13 years old when my best friend Susan and I sneaked into the cinema to see this! She has since passed with cancer and this movie will always bind us together..

It's 2024 and I'm still loving this song. The whole soundtrack is just amazing.😊 I was 10 years old listening to my mom's album and I used to sing every song on it. Wishing I was Barbra Streisand.

Barbra won the golden globes for her acting in this movie. She also was nominated for the Golden Globe for best actress for nearly ALL her roles, last being "The Mirror Has Two Faces" in 1996. But surely a few Youtube randos know better than the critics and people who work on the field who chose to nominate her 😂.

I saw this movie when it opened on Christmas Day in 1976, promptly bought the soundtrack album and wore it out. 45 years later I'm just now getting the meaning of "The Oreos". I must be a little slow.

I sang just like her as a high soprano for 2 years, I met her at 13 years old, am a perfect soprano, taught me to be beyond disciplined in voice, happy, you have no idea how hard it was to earn becoming a high soprano, but she was my mentor, back in the day

I have loved this song since I was 10 yrs old, my sister and I would sing it in the car without the song playing! I finally found it!

I wish a version of this scene existed where we could hear Barbra sing the entire song uninterrupted.

Ooh, thanks for the subtitles! I never could quite get that bonus verse in noisy middle section and it isn't in Rupert Holmes original lyrics. It's a beauty!

I've seen all versions of the "A Star Is Born" movies including the original Janet Gaynor version. I don't think any versions of these movies should be compared because they are all different in their own way. The only things that are the same are the titles and eventual ending of the male lead. Otherwise they're all great in their own right. There is no doubt that Judy Garland's version is absolutely incredible, she was absolutely incredible. She proved that despite her being essentially kicked out of her previous studio, she still had it in spades. "The Man That Got Away" was, in my opinion, the best performance of a song she ever gave in any movie she was ever in. But I am more partial to Barbra's version. However, it has nothing to do with Judy or Barbra. It has to do with the storyline and the chemistry with the male leads these two legends had. Barbra and Kris, despite rumors of difficulties, had incredible chemistry. Not even Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper can compare respectively. Barbra's Esther was tough, didn't take anyone's crap including John Norman's. She fought for what she had and at the very end showed "she wasn't going to look down". Like always Barbra is a force to be reckoned with but it should not be forgotten that Barbra had a lot of love and respect for Judy Garland. They were friends and respected each other's talents and gifts. Therefore I don't these movies should be compared, only celebrated.

Let's have Barbra Streisand as the lead singer of a group called The Oreos--with 2 black women! That's the coolest idea ever! And have Barbra sing rock and roll!!
