I faced this error (0x80004005; MachineWrap) after upgraded my PC with additional DRAM module. Thanks to this advice I was able to start VM using Administrator mode. After one successful launch I was able to start VM normally (without Administrator mode)

Download latest virtual box and try to re install.It will solve the problem.

I had the same problem after windows update. I simply reinstalled VirtualBox and the problem disappeared.

For me the problem occurred when running the VM with VBoxManage, and the fix was that I had forgotten to specify --type headless on the command line.

guess this problem is caused windows update, and it is a bug in windows update or virtualbox, so i install an older edition VB, VirtualBox-4.3.0-89960-Win, after that, when start VB, another problem comes up, 'virtualbox cannot access the kernel driver'

I have a virtual machine with Windows XP with a clean installation. I set it as immutable to create a differential machine, so I create a new virtual machine, select the immutable hard disk and create a new snapshot in the new virtual machine folder.

However, when I try to start the virtual machine I get this error:

"failed to open a session for the virtual machine".

Try rename oracle teste.vbox to oracle teste.vbox.some-else and oracle teste.vbox-prev to oracle teste.vbox

The error is caused for update KB3004394 of the Windows 7. Uninstall this update resouve the problem!

I have the same problem. On windows 8 everything was ok. Unfortunately, after a disk failure, Windows 10 was installed. And here the problem with running the virtual machine started.

I reinstalled VirtualBox several times. With administrator rights, older version, no changes. I currently have VirtualBox 5.2.8 r121009 (Qt5.6.2)
Has someone managed to solve the problem? Or know the exact reason?
