The 25 Slap Groove Challenge is available to all Talkingbass Members. The Talkingbass Membership is totally FREE.

The 25 Slap Groove Challenge is a progressive set of slap bass riffs designed to test your technical skills from beginner to advanced level. The first Bass Riff is merely a simple one string line but as you progress through the list you'll encounter every aspect of technique from ghost notes to double thumbing and everything in between. You'll also encounter a variety of rhythmic hurdles in the shape of syncopated 16th notes and odd time signatures.

In this video we'll look at 5 riffs from the 25 Slap Groove Challenge covering a variety of different technical problems.

Dude. You probably don’t read these, but you have been a hell of a teacher to me. The way you explain and slow everything down is exactly what I’ve needed for where I’m at. Thank

Started learning bass slap from this exact video in late 2021, and still rocking the slaps till now. Thanks for teaching us those ghost-note techniques. It was a GAME CHANGER for my bass playing.

This channel puts out free content/lessons that other channels charge good money for as their “courses” - it’s really very very good stuff! Keep it up (pls!) 😃

First of all I just want to say thank you for what you have done for me personally and my approach to all things bass. You're hands down the top instructional/bass player I've watched and learned from. I would love to see a video where you could show me/us the different grooves of slap you could improvise with different drum beats. I get hung up so bad on if I should pluck on the snare vs the hihat or just alternate between the two and if I should just hang back on the off beat. I mostly played metal/thrash that had melodic slowdowns and am pretty new to the funk and slap world, but gave always loved it. I just want to be more versatile and not suck at it.

Thank you again for all that you do, sir!
