How to fix Gaming PC that randomly restarts (crashes) whilst in use | Corsair CX750M PSU problem

In this video I describe to you the issue that I had with MSI Gaming PC, whereby it would randomly crash and restart whilst playing the popular game Valorant.

This is where you can purchase the power supply which I ultimately installed to resolve this issue:

The PC is specifically has a MSI Z97 Gaming 3 Motherboard and MSI GTX7600 Graphics Card (GPU).

I literally had the same problem!! Event Viewer showed me several kernel power event id 41 code 63 errors. Limiting the power to 80% has eliminated all such problems and a new psu is on its way! THANKS A TON SIR!

This guy sounds like a billionaire doing his own advertisement in the 80s, not a 2024 gamer 😂.

this exact issue is driving me nuts. It occurred for the first time 7 months ago on my new pc, but here's the thing, it only happened 2-3 times then it went away completely until THIS week. Now it is occurring everyday and preventing me from working. Thing is, it can crash/restart randomly whilst browsing, not just gaming. So even when im not doing anything intensive. And if my psu is faulty why would it work smoothly these past 7 months? since this happened back in january then seemingly went away...

What if stressing doesn't reproduce the issue?

I have a brand new deep cool gold rated psu and it crashes. Is my 4070 super giving too much juice?

got the 12GB version of 3080. It seems if I run a game well, like Black Faith/Returnal/Lords Fallen, I can't run those on higher than high settings, even though it will say I'm only using 8-10GB RAM.

I'm not new to gaming on PC. been doing it since only the 660 series was the only cards out.

It seems like when I'm only using everything with high settings, which I use since there's no need to use max since there's not a big difference from max, high seems to let me run newer games for a long time without restarting my PC, and my temp stays usually in the 60s.

12400 cpu/4 fans/haf 912 classic case/1 ssd/1 12gb hdd

It's a 750w

My old psu is a 650m and running the same game my vram is staying at 8gb, whereas using my other one it goes to 10gb same settings ingame

I just got the 750w psu earlier this year. I had a monster 4070, which didn't cause restarts.

I sold it to make more cash until the 50 series comes. Very strange.

My 750w restarts usually when demanding games, even though my GPU doesn't go over 70s or CPU.

Yeah, I think I have a similar issue.
I tried two GPUs that require 6 or 8 pin connections and the pc was crashing randomly during game play using either. I put a GTX 960 that does not have those extra pins and played the same game without any problems, no crashes. So I think it's the PSU failing, so I bought another cheap 1000watt one, and hope that it fixes it.

Hi I’m having a similar problem and wanted to know from anyone if it’s my cpu or psu, every time I go to play some kind of intensive game (tarkov, cyberpunk) or anything on Netflix and YouTube my screen black screens and force restarts. Been an issue for about a month now but I can play low end games (osrs, c&c red alert 2 and binding of Isaac) perfectly fine with either no crashes or a single crash very rarely.

My specs are:
Ryzen 7 3800x
Rtx 2070 super
16gb (2x8gb) ddr4 1600 memory (can’t remember brand name)
And an EVGA 650 psu

Used userbenchmark with no problems so I’m a little lost as to actually what’s happening

I'm having this trouble. only thing is, I have the CX750M. So my PSU is dying. I even stress tested with OCCT on my gpu/CPU etc and nothing happens but when I do it with my PSU it does the black screen restart.

I have a Corsair RM750 (2019) and I’m facing the exact same issues like you were having.
So basically what you’re saying is that 2019 was a bad year for Corsair PSUs or what, since you straight up went buying the same brand again? Just wondering because personally, I wouldn't go with the same brand again.

I just bought a new GPU after months of troubleshooting this exact issue … does this mean I’m still going to have issues

I’ve been having similar issues. My PC randomly black screens and restarts. I can run stress tests for hours without issue, its just completely random so its hard to replicate. Do you believe this could be a Faulty Corsair hx1200 power supply? There was a recall on the psu but mine wasnt in the effected batch. Any support is greatly appreciated!

I would have this happen to my pc but at completely random times even when a game wasn't running. It was really hard to recreate which made it hard to troubleshoot. It did seem easier to recreate if I alt tabbed out of a game or if I even closed a game that was at a different resolution than my system. But most of my crashes would happen at random. Stress testing the gpu and could not recreate a crash. My psu is also a corsair and I'm thinking they had a lot of bad batches which is a shame.
