I think these motherboards came with a weird bios from factory. I have a B450 tomahawk max 2 which was supposed to have come with the zen 3 bios from factory, put a 5600g in it and kept getting CPU debug light and random shut downs. Turns out it was a weird bios version it shipped with from factory. Updating the bios worked perfectly.

I appreciate that you went ahead and cross-checked the client's Ryzen CPU. I had suspicions and would have been disappointed if this wasn't explored. Solid work!

I really like that you always check hardware you take out of a rig. I can't really fault you working.

Greg, another great and informative video. Anyone with experience building PCs should be able to fix a PC problem like this. All DIYers know a project has three components: Time, Patience, and Money. After watching this video, a DIY PC repair has the same three considerations, except substituting a good supply of working parts for money. Greg always presents an excellent example of initial troubleshooting. A test bench is the best tool for a PC repair, especially when replacing parts. It makes replacing parts more accessible, and you can see what you are doing. I bought mine on AMAZON for less than 50 dollars.

I recently discovered these videos and have been making my way through the first two seasons, It is amazing how many things go wrong (break) or are installed incorrectly - I feel like I am building quite the library of troubleshooting steps.

This is why I feel it's always good practice to flash the bios on a new board (at least new to you). It's not always guaranteed that it's going to ship automatically with the compatible version for your cpu, so it gets rid of one potential problem

I really enjoy these vids. It's fun to see what issue kept these computers from working. Learned a few things too. Like how clearing the CMOS and updating the BIOS can fix so many problems.

The same thing happened to me with a MSI B550 mobo and modern 5600X, updating to latest stable bios version bricked the system, and downgrading to an earlier bios version fixed it. It sounds like a MSI QC issue

The ''missing'' bios may have been updated via MSI's software in windows. Some times i have seen it having different revisions then the site.
I think the ''automatic'' updates are some times different then the ''manual'' ones. And you never should use the windows software (MSI LIVE UPDATE 6) to update bios because its crap.
I think that is what happened in this case.

Keep it up Greg! I think this Playlist is the most loved series on this channel. I'm sure the analytics speak for it self.
