FAQ - What is the Black Line on My Crown?

When a crown has a black line around the gum line, this is usually because there has been some gum recession where the crown is. Those crowns are typically a traditional porcelain-fused-to-metal crown where the inner aspect of the crown is made of some form of metal. Any recession that happens after the crown is placed will cause the metal of the crown to be visible.
