In 1995 or 1996 I had the amazing privilege, even though I didn't realize it at the time, of seeing one of the most amazing concerts of my long life. I saw Simon and Garfunkel at the Austin Civic Auditorium (Texas). Sitting about 5 or 6 rows from the center stage, I witnessed a concert that is still one of the most memorable of my life. There were these two guys with one guitar, two stools and an amazing sound. I especially remember Garfunkel. He would stand back from the mic while Simon sang, then when is part was to begin, he would rush to the mic, as if to make love to it, and begin to sing. I am an old geezer now, but that concert is still etched in my mind and I will leave this earth better for the experience. Thank you Art and Paul!!!

This is the best version of the song. Just the two of them, one guitar. It's just perfect, better than the version with electric instruments added that was played on the radio all the decades. The simplicity accentuates the cerebral sound of silence.
