In today's video, i'm trying on *WIDE CALF* boots from target! As of a couple of years ago since my body has become more midsize / plus size, I've realized that most boots don't fit my calves - so I decided to do a little try on investigating the world of wide calf boots! I chose Target to begin because they're affordable and accessible - did they pass the test? Watch to find out lol! Let me know if you'd like me to make this into a series in a comment below! xoxoxo

i know measurements are triggering, but your calf circumference would have been very valuable info. for knowing if any would fit me.

Can we just commend our golden girl Carrie for doing the work on our behalf. Going where no thick girl would dare to go. A gem amongst gems.

This is going to sound dumb, but boots not fitting my calf is something I have always struggled with my whole life, no one ever talks about this so i thought it was just me! Thank you so much for making this video 🧡
The lack of options is insane!!! It’s been 5 years between finding boots that fit for me! (I live in Europe) I am a size 12 so mid sized and the struggle is real...

Is it just me, or are Carries eyes just super vibrant blue in this video?

It’s not even just plus size women who are left out of “regular” calf size boots. They generally don’t fit muscular women either (bodybuilders, athletes, etc...)
it’s crazy, they’re missing out on at least 2 huge markets.

Knowing your calf measurement would be helpful if we were interested in the boots to know if our calves would fit.

Torrid makes extra wide calf. For reference, I'm a size 20 with kinda "skinny" legs so I can get away with standard wide calf boots. I don't think it's really a size thing but measuring calf circumference can help you find some that fit.

I'd check out Sarah Rae Vargas' video on wide calf boots, it's an older video but definitely helpful!

Shoe expert here: Brands like Cobb Hill (by Rockport) do wide with shoes and wide calf boots a lot. More expensive of course but you'll get a lot of years out of them.

If you are looking at a store that doesn't do wide calf, accordion folds on the top of the boots or ones with an elastic panel with help with wider calves. Or, if you have boots you love but the calf is too tight, you can get a cobbler to put an extra panel in the back with elastic or matching leather.

Calf size can depend on your height/body make-up. Shorter people generally have their calves lower down than someone taller, and of course boots are also based on taller and usually thinner, fit models.

And there is extra wide calf! Just harder to find.

My calves were a big trigger for my eating disorder. Even at a size 0 - 2 I couldn’t get them to slim. Even now becoming comfortable with not worrying about size it’s the part of my body I still feel incredibly insecure about. Thank you for normalizing this (both Carrie and the comment section) and sharing information about the need for shoes to fit wide calves, not a lot of people do.

I wear a brace as a disabled person and love waiting for fall/winter so I can wear some boots to cover it. I have to wear wide calf to fit around my brace. I’ve actually had a lot of luck on Amazon, granted my calves still aren’t that wide, but it’s helpful reading what other people say before buying

I'm what people consider "skinny" but I have some beefy calves LOL I guess if you wear a size 6, it's not possible to have muscular calves... Never been able to wear knee-high boots unless there's some way I can adjust the width 😅

In my wide calf experience, if they aren’t snug they will slide down. If the ankles are too wide, they will slide down. The shaft will stretch, even vegan leather. Any larger and they will slide down and crumple around the ankle. Not a goos look.

I’m a size 0 or 2 but genetically just have wider calves for my size. They’re at 14” right now. I’m not plus sized whatsoever. It’s so hard to find boots that fit!!! :( I wished shoe makers would stop assuming that calves are proportional to weight coz it’s definitely 100% genetics.

Omg this video speaks to me so much because I don’t try on boots because I’m afraid of them not fitting and you have to try them on in public .. I wish more people would talk about this topic!!

Knowing your calve size makes it much easier to find the right boot. My calve size is 22" on my left leg and 20" on my right. Everyone has 1 leg that is a little larger than the other. I also wear a wider width. Instead of wearing a W, I prefer a WW which looks and feels 1000% better. Hope this helps!💯👍
