I’ve unfortunately never had the pleasure of playing this game, but I’ve known about this song since the game’s release! It’s one of the most beautiful and touching pieces of video game music, and I just knew I had to highlight it on the channel. From what I’ve heard from others, this songs plays at a very emotional point in the game, and makes people cry a bunch. That’s the power of music and a good story!
This song also doubled as my final project for one of my classes at Berklee called Advanced Ensemble Writing! We were tasked with writing an arrangement of a ballad, featuring a vocalist. Including strings and orchestral woodwinds was also highly encouraged, so I did just that! I brought aboard Soundole to cover clarinets, who did a fantastic job!! And of course, I’m very proud of Sab’s vocal performance. The last time we collaborate on something on my channel vocal-related was back in the days of Weebop.. so it’s nice to see how much her voice has improved as she’s used it in some of her own videos! All my collaborators’ channels can be found up near the top of the description!
If you’re wondering where the strings in this video are coming from, they’re orchestral samples from Vienna Symphonic Library! At Berklee, VSL is the standard piece of software used for orchestral mockups, so I decided to use it in this video. The samples are absolutely wonderful, and there’s a lot of detail in them - they’re some of the best string samples I’ve ever heard, even compared to stuff like 8dio and Spitfire!
