Sadly lots of plastic that gets recycled actually gets downcycled: turned into a product that's much harder and less likely to be recycled again, like a single-use plastic bag. Recycling is definitely a great solution for aluminum, batteries, and paper, but large plastic companies who created mainstream recycling, like Coke, want us to fall into this false hope "solution, " instead of banning single-use plastic and solving the problem for good.
