I got my very first yoyo just today and spent about an hour trying to figure out why it wouldn't come back up. Then, thanks to you guy's, I found out unresponsive yoyos are a thing and that that's what I bought.

It is hard to say. It all depends on how determined you are :)

You are right that all you need is a little more practice. All yoyos will sleep crooked until you learn to throw straight, which just takes time. The Legacy 2 is a very good yoyo, with a little work it should be able to do everything you need :)

Hey Yotricks!
I have a question.
Would it be hard for me to learn this with a unresponsive Magic N12 Yo-Yo?
I can pull off the Elevator, Breakaway, Forward Toss, and my The Around the world amongst the other tricks.
I was thinking it would be easy since it is really similar in concept to the Elevator, but I need your opinion.

I understand. Binding is very difficult to learn, especially if you are just starting out. The best advice I can give is make sure you have a very strong throw so that the yoyo is spinning quickly, the faster it is spinning the easier it will be to bind. Second, you will need to keep the strings from touching the sides of the yoyo if you can, because this will kill the spin. Third, you will need to pull up a little further than I do in this video (while pinching) to make sure it binds tight.

If you want your yoyo to play responsive you will need to put some thick yoyo lube in the bearing. I believe the bearings in the Maverick come lubed, but over time the lube wears out and needs to be replaced. On YoTricks we sell Super Lube which should do the trick.

omg this takes me back to the day my magic yoyo t5 overlord came all the way from China in the post. it took about a month to come and I was soo excited! so I spent the whole day watching these videos and doing this exact bind. it's amazing how easily the bind comes after a day or two. I just got my yyf flight in the post a few days ago and I'm back to watching the basic tutorials again, offstring is a whole new pain in the ass :P
