Am I Too Old To Learn To Sing? Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy

I get asked this question a lot and it's kind of funny because the age range for this question is 15 to 70.

The voice is a muscle (actually a group of muscles), and like any muscle in your body, with good training will grow even into your 70's.

Obviously not as quick and robust as in your 20's, but grow it will if you are willing to put in the time and effort with proper training.

Question answered in the first 3 seconds. More videos should be like this and the world would be a better place.

I asked this question of Ken when I was 69. I can tell you from experience. I'm now 70 and although I was never a great singer to start with, and I'm certainly not a great singer now, my voice is infinitely improved. The course works, and as they say in a group I'm proud to be a part of, "it works if you work it". Thanks Ken.

Got to agree. After playing in bands for 25 years I decided to start trying to improve my voice and found Ken. Many videos watched and hours of work put in and I now have the ability to sing for a couple of hours . Previously more than a song or two was all I could manage. Thanks for all your help Ken. Keep putting the work in guys and it's worth it. I'm in my 50's btw.

I heard my grandmother sing at 86. Not high range, but it sounded reasonable.
I started to sing weekly at 38 and I began the KTVA course now at 40. Never experienced any problems with the chords. We build it slowly and follow the steps outlined in the program. I am documented from A2 to D6. I never thought that would be possible, but it was! This winter I will practise and try to create one long powerful note of it. KTVA is the way to go, at least for me. I give it two thumbs up!

I was a soloist in the church choir. I'm now 64 soon to be 65 in December and want to strengthen my voice once again. I love singing and playing guitar. Will be watching your videos and doing the scales. Thank you. You have a terrific voice.

I'm in my 60's now and really cannot remember a time when I didn't sing. Not professionally, but growing up singing along with my Mom's records or the radio. Not a day that goes by that I'm not singing something! I am blessed with the ability to remember most, if not all, of the lyrics of many of my favorite songs. My favorite music is from the 70's and 80's bands/singers . The best music ever! Music has gotten me through the best times and the worst times in my life. Singing soothes the soul.

James Rivera of Helstar is 61 and his voice still soars and he can still hit those crazy high notes. So they're is some truth to that age is just a number.

This is great My breathing and general singing voice was affected massively by getting Covid in December. The effects lasted 7 months too. Cheers Ken for the straight talking encouragement.

Thank you Ken. I’ve dug into your videos lately and I have found a new born passion for singing. Like you I play guitar and drums but I’m loving to love my voice again. Thank you for your inspiration.

Very true! People like Steve Winwood and Phillip Bailey who are in their 70s can still sing as strongly today as they did during their primes.

I'm 57 years old. And yet I can sing for 2 hours at a time. Challenging songs from Scorpions and the like. Thanks to Ken's advices. Example: Garden concert before covid. There was teacher of sing. Professional Mrs. teacher of sing. For money. She made a living from it. She sang well, in pitch. She was 10 years younger. But her voice failed after 25 minutes. I had to represent her with my own program.
Lesson: Choose well those who teach you to sing.

YES! I’m a Kung Fu instructor. Same thing. You want your body to do things, you train it. There will be limitations — things that injury or RSI have taken from you. But assume that you have no limits. It’s amazing what you can do if you don’t limit yourself. Push against what you thought you couldn’t do. And when you’ve put the months in, accept the limits and work around them. Be patient and do the work.
