One very obnoxious downside of the 24/7 stream is that I can no longer click/tap the channel icon to go to the channel to find another video as it now links to that stream. Already accidentally ended up on that stream three times

No one has mentioned how threads is not available for 450+ million people in EU because it would be illegal and go against how has all the commentary missed this HUGE point out....

35:55 A huge part is that because Twitter is in California, a lot of those non-competes are unenforceable. So as long as ex-Twitter employees didn't take a copy of Twitters code, but instead just rewrote the same stuff again, they would probably be in the clear legally for the most part.

Of course, seems Twitter is taking offense to this since they did [edit: threaten to] sue Meta over Threads now.

I honestly think the "after dark" logo would look better if the orange part went to purple or something. Would be a cool transition.

Hey Luke, I know you read the comments afterwards and just wanted to say thanks for listening to the community. Cheers

I'm impressed that Linus can stay so calm when talking about the pool. I would absolutely be raging with how long it has taken and the amount of mistakes they made (and keep making)

One thing I would like with the LTTV is if you could inject your livestreams like wanshow etc into LTTV when it’s live I’m sure it’s harder than it seems but it would be really cool

The same thing as the French law already exists in Sweden, and goes further as it is less restricted. And not only that, there is now a proposed extension to it where even people who merely associate with suspects can be "monitored" in this way. It could be as simple as taking a drink with an old friend (who happens to be a suspected criminal) from high school, and you end up having your phone hacked, legally, by the police. It's insane!

I figure the 24/7 stream is to capture viewership from places such as businesses that want a "set and forget" thing to put on a TV in a business. people claim autoplay is the same but it isnt, it can (and does) send you down weird rabbitholes.

For those who are specifically having an issue with printers and proprietary ink, get an ink tank printer. The manufacturers cannot prevent you from putting unofficial liquids into your printer (just... still stick to ink).

When you were honest about earning some extra on the shipping, it actually made me want to buy. Honesty is worth more than that small amount of money.

I've never laughed as hard as when Luke said "technically we're just a long tube" being absolutely done with Linus's stuff.

The honesty about the Lime Day shipping thing is probably the best thing you could do. The people it actually affects are going to be your strongest supporters, so I suspect they won't have an issue. And, if it is actually an issue where you make more money than expected, I don't doubt those who ordered a lot will get special offers in the future.

57:10 Combining shipments to other countries like countries in the EU might cost your customers significant unexpected import taxes. Often there are limits in place under which you don't have to pay import taxes, but above you have to pay them on the whole contents of the shipment. Import taxes are usually calculated on a shipment basis, or if an order is split into different shipments on the order basis. Multiple separate orders in the same shipment will be summed up together, often exceeding the limits.

On the timeframe for Threads, Facebook designed two of the key tools to pull it together. Cassandra and GraphQL along with the infrastructure, resources and developers with experience in the space.

The whole credit conversation is why financial literacy needs to a basic and mandatory part of your high school education, its absurd how many people just dont know how money in general works.

Its not a bad thing, your not the only one im just saying the education system really needs to step up and teach kids stuff theyll need to know throughout there life.

The comments about serving a text post to 100 million people is hard is true, but this is literally what all Facebook developers have been working on for the last few decades. They have some of the best experienced people in the world when it comes to scaling text-based threads. I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook is literally reusing their timeline backend code with a new UI on top.

Very relatable. Wan show mvp. Thanks Luke!

For people mad about they taking the extra on the shipping, literally every company does that, they just don't talk about it. Same as "free shipping", discounts and 99% of marketing BS.
