Threads, a Twitter clone is officially the most rapidly downloaded app in history, gaining 100 million users in 5 days. Yes, using instagram to populate the app played a large part in it's growth, but what's more interesting in the protocol Meta plans to use. Who will come out on top? What about privacy issues? In this episode, we look at the boiling feud between two billionaires.

I've been waiting on this one! *edit* This was a great non biased report. Very enlightening as always!

I loved how Eli Lilly was finally shamed into reducing the price of the life-saving (actually life-saving, not some headline) by 70% and then denied it was anything to do with that parody tweet

The charm of Twitter is that it is an absolute septic tank of human thoughts. That simply can't be replicated

Tbh, im quite glad to be a social hermit. Not being connected to twitter, facebook, instagram etc gives you a lot of peace of mind.

Imagine being alive for last 10-15 years and still trusting Zuck.

It's been one month and this already hasn't aged well.

Community notes is the best feature on any social media. It helps curb the biggest downside of social media- propagation of bullshit

I thank COVID for curing me of the social media disease. I gave up on all those apps long ago...and life is better.

Pretty please let this be the beginning of the world where I get to fight the billionaires in cage fights

The fact that Threads seeks to tame the chaos already makes it an unviable alternative. The chaos is why I use Twitter

What breaks the deal for me is the fact that there's close to 0 chance of your thread popping up in the feed for the public unless you have 100, 000s of followers.

Definitely could see this going similarly to Reddit. Starts off with a free/cheap API, lots of options for users to view content on their preferred Reddit app until the CEO pulls the trigger once they've gathered enough users. Users get upset but nothing will change because we're all addicted.

I don't have social anymore but isn't instagram & threads just breaking facebook into 2 of it's own functions & making people have more socials than just using facebook? Make it make sense.

The scariest part about this Threads hype is that none of those 100 million people cared about all the very intrusive and personal data colletion that the app asks for when you sign up. It even wants your medical record, financial records and everything about your device/life. It's terrifying, yet those people all clicked "accept". I'm honestly baffled by this.

It’s naive to think that governments don’t already have access to Meta and Twitter’s user data.

Threads lost 80% of its users and only has 8 million active users to date so its safe to say this video aged like milk.

Even though there have been problems with Twitter post-Musk, I want to keep Zuckerburg out of as much of the internet possible.

I think the Reddit API blunder also helped the fast growth of Threads

Back when Twitter and Instagram were becoming popular I didn't see the appeal or any reason why I would want to use them since I already had a Facebook account. Since then, my view of social media in general has gotten much worse, and I really don't get the appeal of Threads or any other social media app.

Besides YouTube of course.

Interesting how you avoided the elephant in the room - censorship vs free speech.
