Hey David. I've got a question. What happens if you give your Q box to a relative who doesn't have an active subscription, but they had the wideband LNB? Would the Q box still receive the free channels? I know you have to give the box back to Sky but I'm just wondering

So, to summarise…..
If I cancel, my Q box is basically useless?
I cannot use it as a free view box like older models right ?
I have to send it back to them but can I record programs on a 4K free view box if I buy outright ?

Hi David,

So if you’re getting sky Glass, is that just for testing? Are you going to cancel sky glass eventually and go back and have an active Q subscription?

What is ultimately the plan, I’m just being nosy and somewhat interested.

I mean for me personally I really don’t see the value in sky glass, unless of course you just want a basic set up without dealing with sound bars/AVR’s and that kind of thing.

I was thinking of giving up Sky myself as it's gone too expensive and there's never anything decent on.
I live in Ireland and Sky make it as awkward as possible for Irish customers so I don't think the Sky guide would even work over here.
I was wondering if you could tune in the free to air channels using the settings menu without the Sky sub.
This video didn't cover that.
Sky will probably take the q box off me when I unsub anyway so I suppose it doesn't matter.

Getting a sky stream but am hearing bad issues about sky stream? Should I cancel sky stream and get sky q with satellite dish ?

The Sky Q intro channel is actually not encrypted (both the SD and HD channels), so sky purposely put the SD Version on there, i don't have sky uk (i am german, i have sky germany, and sky Q is also used here) but 2 lnb's so i get all channels on Astra 28, 2 /28, 5. I want to get Sky UK, there are more channels available than here in germany (i know i can't subscribe directly, i need to use a reseller)

After 18 months the company HML property finally came and upgraded the communal dish in our new build to skyQ and tommorow skyQ 2TB UHD 4K box is being fitted and sky mini box and I can’t wait to finally have Q and not +HD

Sky is an absolute waste of money. It's literally paying to watch adverts 70% of the time I can't stand sky and I'm glad I left. Sorry buddy but most people are of the same opinion they are leaving for streaming platforms none of us want to watch adverts so you carry on with your sky and most of us will carry on choosing what we want to watch and not watching all the stupid adverts with it.

Hi,
I was able to use my Sky Q box as a receiver, as I do not have an outdoor tv ariel, for £5pm. This is for 12 months only, then it will go up to £15pm. Within this time, I should have installed an outdoor ariel. 😊
