Sting wrote this song about 1993 and had a very moderate hit with it, but it went on to be a real classic and covered by many artists and Orchestras ..However Eva Cassidy probably (in my opinion) produced the best cover of this beautiful love song, Eva put everything into her performance and is more popular today than when she was alive …So sad we lost this beautiful lady at such a young age 33 😥😥😥

This was my nans funeral song, she was my 2nd mother, she was my best friend. I lost her from a young age. Still to this day I’m hugely impacted by the loss of the wonderful woman but, I know she’s in a better place now. Life hasn’t been the same since she left us. I used to play this song when I was a kid religiously in my room and stare at the sky whilst crying… this was 16 years ago, I am now 28 and I still come back to play this regularly with tears in my eyes. I’d do anything to see her again & see the man I am today. Life is so precious & so are the people around you who you love. Don’t ever forget that. 🩵

My beautiful 16yr son Kian passed away from cancer 16th October. Iv always played this song but it means so much to me now. My gorgeous, handsome, funny, intelligent, witty, much loved son was taken so suddenly. We just found out a few wks ago his brain tumours were back after 6yrs of remission. A tumour pressed on his spinal cord & we lost him after 2days. My darling boy 😥
I know we are all eternal beings & we will meet again. 💙💙💙💙

I first heard this song from Sting and thought he sang it sweetly. But hand down Eva Cassidy sings Fields of Gold beautifully♥ with so much passion and soul that it truly touches your heart. Eva Cassidy had such a precious voice. It's a huge shame😥 that she died so young and soon. So sad that we don't have her, but she left this world to be in a better one. I bet you God has her singing up at heaven for him, the angels & passed souls. 🎶
