My husband works nights and he’s having trouble sleeping in the day time. I’m going to try and do this while he’s at work tonight. Thanks ☺️

So, I did this and it works fine. Except when it comes time to removing it after being on a month, it leaves behind a stain on the windows, that is VERY hard to get off. The aluminium reacts with the sunlight so I just found out today, and leaves a stained pattern. Googling how to get rid of it came up with very little you can do about it. In fact, I can even see the stain on his windows, which he did not mention for some bizarre reason, and I WISH I had known this beforehand. This may be fine if this is your window in your home, but if you are renting, beware.

I work nights and I start sleeping in my closet because of the sunlight. Now I’m definitely going to try this. Thanks.

Dude! I cannot thank you enough, I just finished doing this to my bedroom windows and it is now pitch black without the curtains closed. Thank you so much, also I decided to use windex instead of water because I thought it would reduce the chance of mould growing.

I worked nights for years and this is exactly what I did...don't think I would have lasted long without it.

Thank you so much. I'm about to start night shifts at a hospital and this is exactly what I needed. You've earned yourself a sub.

This was incredibly helpful. I have renters staying at a house that has a ton on sunlight in the bedroom, and it is getting their 3 year old up at 5 a.m. -- not fun! You have saved their vacation and probably gotten me a repeat renter. Thanks, Mate!

We’re traveling with a baby in December, and I’ve been looking at making my own blackout shade, because the kind you can buy are so dang expensive. I think I’ll give this a try instead! Thanks for sharing!

You method worked to transform my guest room into a 5-day “darkness retreat” for myself, which was transformative. My white PVC window frames slightly glowed from sunlight so I added foil, held on by painters tape over the frames.

I worked nights for 12 yrs straight. This does work. It’s especially good if you rent, or do not want to invest in expensive blockout shades and curtains.
